PLAYWRITING

Playwriting
In this 6-8 week course, students will learn the fundamentals of playwriting including the key concepts of characterization, setting, conflict, dialogue, and dramatic action. Each session will include a mini-lesson, a review and discussion of sample dramatic scenes, an in-class freewriting exercise, and an opportunity to share. The lessons are designed to be creatively generative, heart-centered, and community based. This is an opportunity for students to express themselves through the written word with imagination and play. For schools that wish for 8 weeks, we will work on the revision of our work and culminate with a community reading of our scenes with professional actors. This course may be tailored toward any age group.
