Freddy Gaitan

Freddy O. Gaitan, was raised in the Salinas Valley, California. The son of migrant farmworkers, he was the first of his family to go to college, and received his BFA in Theatre with honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara.  After working at Festival Internacional Cervantino in Guanajuato Mexico and for shows that premiered at Boston Court Theatre and Portland Center Stage, he enrolled at USC School of Cinematic Arts.  At USC, Freddy was mentored by the late Haskell Wexler and was the proud recipient of the Rodolfo Montes Scholarship, which honors academic achievement and community leadership; the Panavision Emerging Filmmakers Award; the Gene Autry Endowed Scholarship; as well as the prestigious Alfred P. Sloan Production Grant, which recognizes innovative filmmakers who create stories that explore science and technology.  Freddy recently co-wrote an episode of UnREAL by creator Marti Noxon while TINO, a short documentary he produced and King of Comfort Court, which he directed, showcased at San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara International Film Festivals.
